Thrusday Prompt: Broken Resolutions

Happy New Year! A shiny new year to write some aweome new stories. Everyone makes resolutions and often those resolutions get shattered within the first week or the new year. So let's have some fun with those temptations we've sworn to put aside or lofty goals we probably will fizzle on by the end of February and write a short story or flash fiction about broken resolutions or breaking a resolution.

Use the following sentence to start your story:

I swore this would be the year, the year I would finally resolve to (fill in character's resolution), but instead this is what happened.

Write in any genre with no more than 5,000 words. Good luck with your resolutions this year!
